A Word From Our Director

Tri-Tech Forensics is thrilled to announce our partnership with The International Association for Identification (IAI). The Association officially announced Tri-Tech Forensics, Inc. as its Exclusive Training Partner, effective October 1st, 2015, during its annual IAI Centennial Conference. The IAI's Training Partnership began in 2004 as a way for the organization to ensure that high quality training would be available for its members and to generate additional funding to support the growth of the Association's operations.

When compared to other forensic firms, Tri-Tech Forensics might appear as a newcomer on the surface. In reality, our company has been in business for over 30 years. Originally the premier supplier of evidence collection kits, our business has expanded its inventory to include a broad range of crime scene investigations products over the past decade. The expansion of Tri-Tech Forensics brought forth the opportunity to create a training division. In 2013, I joined the company as the new Training Director and the Tri-Tech Forensics Training Division was born.

Tri-Tech Forensics Training courses are available in various subjects such as: fingerprint identification, crime scene investigations, forensic photography, bloodstain pattern analysis, forensic anthropology, and footwear and tire track identification. Tri-Tech also supports the IAI certification process by offering preparatory courses for the Crime Scene, Forensic Photography, and Latent Print Certification exams. Our company plans to expand these offerings to include forensic art, forensic video analysis, and digital evidence. We also offer custom designed courses to meet an agency's specific needs.

Tri-Tech Forensics is located in Leland, NC, with the Training Division headquarters located in Tennessee. Training programs, however, are available to be hosted anywhere in United States. We have presented training in destination cities around the country and offer generous support for agencies interested in hosting. Local training can save an agency thousands of dollars, promote networking in an agency's area, and provide economic support to the IAI.

Please explore the different pages of our website to discover information on Upcoming Courses, Course Descriptions, and Tri-Tech Training Instructors. If your agency is interested in Becoming a Host Agency or you have any questions about our workshops, please contact me at phil@tritechusa.com.

Tri-Tech Forensics Training is honored to be the Exclusive Training Partner of the IAI and looks forward to continuing to support IAI members with exceptional forensic education.

Sincerely,

Phil Sanfilippo, Director

The International Association for Identification’sCertification Program

The International Association for Identification (IAI) has established a certification program in order to identify qualified practitioners working in the various disciplines of forensic science.  These certifications are not available to individuals with no experience or those working outside the field.  The following is an excerpt from the IAI’s Certification Manual:

The need to identify qualified individuals who can provide essential professional forensic services has long been recognized. In response to this need and to promote ethical and professional practices among its participants, the IAI Certification Program was established to provide a program of certification in the profession of forensic identification, investigation, and scientific examination of physical evidence. In purpose, function and organization, the IAI Certification Boards are thus analogous to the certifying boards of other specialties and scientific fields.

The Certification Boards were established to set the standards and qualifications for those who practice specific disciplines within the forensic sciences; to establish voluntary certification testing of applicants who meet or exceed the training, educational, professional experience requirements set by the specific Certification Board; and to annually review, and if necessary, revise the standards and qualifications, as well as the specific Board’s provisions in the operations manual.

Each course offered by Tri-Tech Forensics has been presented to each of the certification boards applicable to the subject matter of the training.  As new courses are added to our course catalog, these new courses are also submitted to this review.  Upon review, courses meeting the requirements of the respective boards are approved for certification and/or re-certification training credit.  The courses listed on the following table have been approved for the number of hours reflected in the table.  Please refer to the certification manual at the following URL for training requirements of the various boards and further details.
