We have also wrapped a complete system of value-added tools that will help the forensics analyst by automating some of the mundane, time-consuming tasks (i.e. RAID, backup, and archive).
As the Momentum DataCenter Solution is non-software vendor specific, TTDF is able to work with third parties to ensure their applications are compatible with the DataCenter. Currently the majority of global forensic laboratories are very workstation centric and dependent, with ingestion, processing, and viewing all taking place in the same work space area using the same system or multiple systems all on the same desk. File servers and centralized storage can still be in place, but the core processing takes place at the workstation, and the data is copied to the file server once analysis is completed. TTDF does believe the workstation- centric forensic model will continue to be a feasible option in the future as hard drives get larger and the diversity/complexity of digital cases increases. To cope with this exponential growth, it requires real time collaboration and information sharing between the HTCU (High Technology Crime Unit) departments and officers in the field.
Working with all of the major forensic software developers, TRITECH Digital FORENSICS has engineered a scalable DataCenter lab solution that simplifies the ingestion of the suspects’ data and stores the files on a high performance central repository. The examiners and investigators then launch the forensic software of their choice in a virtual environment, allowing them to open multiple sessions and significantly increase their investigative capability. With dual screens, an investigator may run 2 or 3 instances of FTK or Encase (even both together) as long as they own enough software licenses. It is possible to have one instance looking at current evidence, another looking at archived evidence, and a third handling the acquisition of a new suspect drive. Our hard-working Momentum DataCenter Solution also allows the investigator to archive and move files between storage locations normally dependent on the accessibility requirement by a simple click of the mouse while maintaining full evidential integrity.
